GM: As you leave the life support bubble, you see several of the settlers raising their hands, as a blessing from the Immutable, towards you. You are their last hope for clean water.

Buzz: So, something has been adding a new contaminant, breaking the colonies only water source.
GM: Correct, unless causes are found, water runs out in 48 hours. Here is your location; here is the river.
Hank: I don’t see anything interesting on this side.
Buzz: Agree.
Hank: We crossing the river?
Buzz: Can we?
Hank: I would like to use the potion we negotiated, GM. It allows my pet to terraform a section of Earth. We were thinking of clearing rubble at the time, but I think the same effect would be helpful here.
GM: I see many large boulders your pet can turn into a makeshift bridge. But first, remember you are in a toxic environment.
Hank: I will roll my Disease Resist . . . I pass!

GM: Solid. Do you have enough resources for your potion.
Hank: Yeah we negotiated . . . 2 SS + 2 MM +1 OO. [Moves chips to center of table]
GM: That is your movement and action. As the potion is an Instant (II) potion, you must roll 18 or under to avoid a drawback.
Hank: I pass again!
Buzz: I will use my Beast Rider bonus movement to get across the bridge and see what is there.
GM: Disease Resist?
Buzz: . . .I fail.
GM: Your stats all drop by 2 for this scene, and you take [rolls d4] a full 4 damage.
Buzz: Darn. But I can still get far!
GM: As you cross the bridge, some of the sludge sticks out to you as though it’s a different color.
Buzz: Can I roll Focus to investigate? [Rolls]
GM: Yes, and yes, I see you passed. The sludge is 50% water from the river and 50% Moon Mason honey.

Buzz: . . . . Shit the Moon Masons are here?
Hank: No wonder the river is turning. Shoot.
GM: I roll on my charts. . . and Area 2 starts to give way beneath Buzz’s feat, forming a sort of quicksand. Buzz, roll Agility.
Buzz: Uh oh. Ah! First good roll of the night I pass.
GM: You do not become stuck. Hank, when you enter, you will need to avoid that area or roll to prevent becoming stuck yourself. I am going to roll the Opportunity Die. . . Good news your space suits are still holding. And no one is Stressed.
Taming Pets
Hank: I pass the Disease Resist . . now I will avoid the Elevated Impact Quick Sand and move here.
GM: [rolls] Lucky duck.
Hank: You tend to have a different understanding of luck than I do . . .
GM: You meet a curious Moon Mason Bee!
Hank: Shoot, I tame bots, not creatures.
GM: You are not near its hive, it is not Pestering you.
Buzz: Darn I don’t have enough resources to tame . . .
GM: But Hank Does, and you can clearly see each other and thus Beam Transfer.
Hank: C’mon Buzz. Get one of the buzzards on our side . . .
Buzz: I pass Disease Resist . . . and I have my crater wolf approach with the Strange Sap Treat.
GM: The Bee gives the insectoid equivalent of a growl and sizes you up. The bee and wolf take a few swipes at each other, trying to establish Dominance, meanwhile, you reach out with your mind.
Buzz: I Roll 16 over 14, 13 under 14, & 15 over 14. My pet assist die is 8, 5 , 4.
GM: Remember you have spent a unit of Pet Energy. Your final results are 8, 5, and 11 – all under 14, all successes. The Moon Mason’s mind touches yours. It sees strength in you and your growing herd. And the free Sap was a nice touch. When it moves closer to you, you find another clue to the mystery. This Moon Mason has a strange anatomical feature . . . if you didn’t know better you would think it was gills . . .
Hank: What?! What would motivate them to . . .
Buzz: We are getting a picture. Where to next Hank, I the Opportunity Die is still big, I think we got some time before it gives out . . .
Running out of Opportunity
(some time later)
GM: This round’s Opportunity Die is a d10 . . and I roll a 1. Stamina Resists all. Your spacesuits have given out under the toxic conditions. Death is inevitable if you stay in the Environment.
Hank: Whelp, it’s been a fun campaign, everyone; I just took 6 damage, 3 HP left . . .
GM: I do have some good news. Your newly tamed pet sees the party’s distress and points. You think there is a safe area ahead, where you can repair your suits.
